Preview hike at the Borletto Alto Ausa site

TO TAKE PART IN THE EVENT, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE DEDICATED WAIVER FORM, WHICH WILL BE PROVIDED DIRECTLY ON SITE.

On Sunday, May 10, the Municipality of Bertinoro is organizing a walk to preview the route that will cross the new Site of Community Importance (SCI) “Borletto Alto Ausa.”

The meeting point is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at the parking area on Via Allende. The initiative represents a special opportunity to discover an area of great natural value, recognized by the Emilia-Romagna Region and characterized by high biodiversity.

The SCI “Borletto Alto Ausa,” covering approximately 150 hectares in the upper Ausa basin, is located near Collinello and includes a predominantly forested area with natural clearings and at least four small ponds. The site forms part of the regional ecological network as a connecting element with other important sites in the Forlì hills, contributing to the protection and strengthening of natural habitats.

The area hosts a rich variety of animal species, including amphibians, birds, and insects, as well as numerous rare plant species for the Romagna hills, such as orchids, red lilies, spring cyclamen, and other species of particular interest.

Natura 2000 is the European Union’s main instrument for biodiversity conservation: an ecological network spread across the entire EU territory, established by Directive 92/43/EEC “Habitats,” with the aim of ensuring the long-term protection of natural habitats and threatened or rare species of flora and fauna.

Sites of Community Importance (SCIs), such as “Borletto Alto Ausa,” represent the key nodes of this network and are subsequently designated as Special Areas of Conservation (SACs).

Given the exceptional nature of the initiative and to limit environmental impact, participation is limited in number. It is possible to reserve a place (subject to availability) by sending an email to turismo@comune.bertinoro.fc.i; the reservation will be valid only upon confirmation.

Participation is free of charge.
