Songs of the South

Trio Sud: Agata Leanza (voice & percussion), Raimondo Raimondi (guitar & mandocello), Agide Brunelli (clarinet & bass clarinet)

This year’s "See You at Dawn" series opens with Trio Sud, an ensemble active since 2013, renowned for their artistic sensitivity and mastery. Their project reimagines the musical heritage of the Mediterranean and South America, blending tradition with contemporary expression to create a repertoire deeply rooted in folk culture. At the heart of their performance lies "La Rosa dei Cantastorie di Sicilia", a heartfelt tribute to Rosa Balistreri—Sicily’s unforgettable voice of strength, pain, and poetry. The trio revives her songs and spirit, capturing her narrative power and emotional intensity, while also offering fresh interpretations of Italian songwriting legends like Domenico Modugno, Franco Battiato, and Nonò Salamone. Through acoustic textures, they guide listeners on a journey through tales of life, sea, struggle, and dreams, keeping alive the legacy of those who gave voice to the soul of the South.

"Will I Ever Reach a Harbor?"

Ferro Battuto: Ferruccio Liriti (voice & accordion), Alessandra Antimi (flute)

Ferruccio Liriti shares his stories live, accompanied by his trusted accordion and the transverse flute of Alessandra Antimi. An intimate singer-songwriter journey where each ballad revives a love, a memory, a disappointment—a sea of melodies woven into the air, marking the artist’s full-fledged musical return. A historic figure of the Scuola di Musica Popolare and member of its Orchestrona, Liriti is a refined composer of his own texts and music. After years of silence, he resurfaces with a renewed project and ensemble.

Ensemble La Tangente: "From Venice to Vienna"

Anne Schlick (voice & nyckelharpa), Annette Osann (nyckelharpa), Valentin Cointot (nyckelharpa & oktavharpa)

Dedicated to Antonio Caldara, this concert was born from Annette Osann’s vision—a luthier, cellist, and nyckelharpa player—to explore Venetian Baroque repertoire with her favorite instrument. Joined by lyrical singer Anne Schlick and multi-instrumentalist Valentin Cointot, the trio highlights the nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle) through Caldara’s sacred vocal works (excerpts from the oratorio "Sedecia"), secular cantatas ("Vicino a un rivoletto"), and instrumental pieces ("Sonate a tre"). This rich late-Baroque repertoire reflects Caldara’s eclectic journey from Venice to Vienna, mirroring the trio’s own geographic and musical paths.
