Stefano Bollani will be the protagonist of a special evening combining music, improvisation, and audience engagement in a unique and unrepeatable performance. With his renowned "Piano Solo", the Italian pianist and composer will take the audience on a free and surprising musical journey. The event is part of the Entroterre Festival preview.

As is now tradition whenever Stefano Bollani takes the stage, each concert promises to be a unique event. There is nothing pre-planned in his performances: music becomes a playful experience, reinvented each time.

The artist constantly changes his approach, improvising in the moment with various bands and major artists including Richard Galliano, Bill Frisell, Paul Motian, Chick Corea, Hamilton de Holanda, Caetano Veloso, Hector Zazou, Chucho Valdés, and his mentor Enrico Rava.

However, the essence of Bollani’s comedic spark, his joyful spirit, and his musical versatility are perhaps best expressed when he performs solo.

It is no coincidence that his most popular concerts are the Piano Solo performances, a show that is reborn every night with an ever-unpredictable repertoire, where the musical flow is guided by the inspiration of the moment. Bollani is completely free on stage: his qualities as an engaging entertainer play a central role, and the audience becomes an active participant. He responds to the mood of the crowd at every concert; he loves to entertain and surprise both the audience and himself.

In his performances, he lets himself be guided by music (and by the audience), moving fluidly between lyricism and comedy, improvising, deconstructing, and reconstructing melodies drawn from what seems like an endless repertoire of Italian popular songs, American jazz standards, Brazilian and other Latin American music, Italian opera arias, 20th-century classical composers, and his own compositions.

The highlight of these piano solo concerts is the moment when Bollani involves the audience, inviting them to co-create the evening’s program with spontaneous requests, like in a jukebox. From this interaction emerges an improvised medley that blends very different musical worlds in a completely natural way, as if the pieces were always meant to be played together. And Bollani simply enjoys the game.

A versatile artist, beyond music he writes books, composes film scores, and hosts successful television programs such as Via dei matti numero zero with Valentina Cenni. In 2026 he released the album Tutta Vita Live with the All Stars formation and is currently touring major Italian music festivals.
