The Hospitality Feast celebrates the encounter between different cultures, and the Magnificat Orchestra of Jerusalem is a concrete example of this spirit: young musicians of different religions and traditions playing together, united by music beyond every difference. A message that fully represents the spirit of hospitality that Bertinoro aims to convey.

From the harmony of music to the harmony of coexistence

The Magnificat Institute of Jerusalem, founded in 1995 in the heart of the city, is a unique school that combines professional musical training with intercultural dialogue. Here, Muslim, Christian, and Jewish children and young people study together, united by their shared passion for music.

The Institute provides liturgical service in the Holy Places, such as the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre and the Basilica of the Nativity, and offers high-level academic education with diplomas recognized in Europe.

Today it welcomes over 200 students and 18 teachers, with courses in piano, strings, organ, singing, guitar, composition, flute, percussion, choral music, solfeggio, and music history.

The Magnificat is a true laboratory of peace: a bridge between people and cultures, founded on respect, friendship, and hope. Around 80% of the teachers are Israeli Jews, while around 80% of the students are Palestinian, Christian, and Muslim.

As Cardinal Pizzaballa recalls, “the harmony of music extends to the harmony of coexistence.”
For this reason, the Magnificat Orchestra will be in Emilia-Romagna for the Concerts of Communion and Peace.
